Briargrove got its start as a post World War II housing boom neighborhood in west Houston. The area is characterized by one-story ranch homes. Sprinkled in the mix of traditional ranch style homes are newer construction two story contemporary homes. The area is just south of the Memorial Villages and west of the Galleria area. The prime location gives the area a wooded suburban feel, while being close in to the city. With Westheimer just to the south of the area, there are many shopping and dining options within a short drive.

Briargrove is known for its strong family atmosphere. Known for its good schools, Briargrove remains a wonderful place to raise a family. Briargrove Elementary School, an HISD campus, is known as one of the best elementary schools in the region. In addition, the area is home to nearby Tanglewood Park and Grady Park, offering some green space and outdoor recreation to the area.
